el 14 de marzo

this week has been full of new adventures because i have officially left el rosario. i am now in san juan, las colinas, managua. welcome back to the heat sister graves! i am trying to stay positive about the heat because it will only be worse if i think about it! i need to get better at writing in my journal, because life gets in the way....

well, i would send you pictures, but my memory card doesn´t like the managua computers so it doesn´t recognize it... sorry. my new companion is another greenga, who has been away from home a little more than 6 months. sister hussey is a bell from temple square, salt lake and i love having her as a companion. there is just so much fun to have with a bi-lingual companion!

our greatest success, we have two great baptisms this next weekend! said is doing great with the word of wisdom and celeste was ready for baptism a year ago. her daddy is all ready to do the ordiance this weekend, and so we are all set!

a tender mercy. friday we went to go talk with a sister, animating her to do some of her own missionary work. we got a couple of referrals and we had some time to go looking for new investigators = golden opportunity. we walked around the corner and i recognized a cute little girl playing with some other little ones. i looked up and saw anaĆ, jefri´s wife! come to find out that the referral was her grandmother and i had a few moments to talk with her. jefri is doing well, keeping up with work. sofia is all grown up, almost ready to have a birthday in july. anaĆ and jefri go to church every once in a while, and a couple of days ago, the sisters found them again in loma linda! it was so great to see her and i cried a little bit later on. the lord is good!

this week the food was relatively normal. the new lunch cita is sweet and gives us what we want! sister hussey shared with me a great little american fig bar that i am going to have to hunt down when i get back. but yeah, everything normal!

a favorite scripture actually goes along with a quote but i don´t have it on me... but zechariah 13:6, 9
::one shall say unto him, what are these wounds in thine hands? then he shall answer, those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends. And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God.::

i have always been fascinated with the refiner´s fire that the scriptures talk about. christ had has, two actually. his forty day fast and then his sacrifice for us in gethsemane. we have ours during our difficult moments. we need to remember that the scars that he has on his hands are our sins. we are the friends that he was wounded for.

john 15:13
::Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.::

i love you all. but not as much as He does.
